What does Poka-yoke mean?
Poka-yoke (ポ カ ヨ ケ) means “fail-safe” in Japanese and is a system / method for identifying and avoiding mistakes before they occur. The system aims to detect or avoid mistakes.
An example of a Poka-yoke solution is Pick to Light, where light indicators in different colors show which item to pick, and what amount. A button or sensor is acquitted for each pick, which quality assures the process. Since the system is digital, no picking lists need to be used, enabling the operator to use both hands during picking.
