What does Andon mean?
Andon derived from the Japanese words for lantern, light, or lamp, is a crucial aspect of theToyota Production System method.
It involves promptly halting or flagging production once an issue is detected.
This is usually performed by pressing an Andon button or pulling an Andon string near your workstation, which causes a light and / or sound signal to be lit or heard. In this way, supervisors, maintenance personnel and other employees are notified that a problem has arisen.
