Background

Toyota Material Handling is a global leader in material handling and intralogistics. With operations in over 30 countries and a strong position in forklifts, warehouse trucks, and automated solutions, the company is a key player in driving the development of efficient flows in warehousing and production.

Challenge

When Toyota Material Handling Manufacturing Sweden began its collaboration with Binar, they were facing several challenges in their production environment. One of the most significant issues was the use of handheld computers, which limited operators’ freedom of movement and efficiency. This resulted in both ergonomic problems and time losses during the picking processes.

Solution

By implementing Binar’s Pick to Light solution, Toyota was able to eliminate the need for handheld computers and enable two-handed picking.

Results

After implementing Pick to Light in the reach truck flow, takt time has been reduced by an average of 3 minutes per pick – without adding staff. A clear proof of how smart automation can deliver significant gains at higher volumes.
